First General Meetings

The season of Fall first gens is finally here! Where: Crystal Cove Auditorium
UCSD Kabigang Pilipino- Wednesday, September 30 @ 6pm

Come to NorCal with CSUF PASA Kaibigan!
Every year in preparation for Friendship Games, CSUF PASA has their annaul NorCal trip to host the Norcal FG Picnic. This year, the picnic will be held on Saturday, October 3, and we are inviting SCPASA to come with!

PRICE OF NORCAL TRIP: MEMBERS: $75
NON-MEMBERS: $85
HOT DOG SALE VOLUNTEERS: $65

INSTALLMENT PLAN: MEMBERS: $40
NON-MEMBERS: $50
HOT DOG SALE VOLUNTEERS: $30

HOTEL: Best Western in South San Francisco

This price includes the cost of hotel. Due to the crazy economy, rates for hotels have upped a lot, so this is the best deal we could find, but know that we are still on the search for something more reasonable (and not janky.. haha)! We are still looking at ways to lower the price, so we will keep you updated for any price cuts. If you are interested in going to NorCal with PASA, please contact Sheila Pacleb at externalvp@csufpasa.com!
Interested in a FREE trip to NorCal?
PASA is looking for people who are willing to provide a van(s) for the trip. If you can, all you will be paying for is food and gas (which is divided among the people riding in your van). With the high cost of the trip, the cost of gas seems almost slim to none! Please contact Selyna Arciaga at president@csufpasa.com or call (818) 809-8544 for more information and/or if you are interested!

FPAC & Tinikling Battle
This weekend is the 18th Annual Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture!

From the FPAC Facebook Event Page:
“Continuing a community-wide tradition, FilAm ARTS presents the 18th Annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC), on September 12-13, 2009 at Point Fermin in San Pedro. Widely known as Southern California’s largest and longest-running Filipino cultural celebration, FPAC will feature performances by a diverse line-up headlined by the premiere Filipino American comedian, Rex Navarrete; Geologic, of the rising hip hop group the Blue Scholars; MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew Season 2 finalist, Supreme Soul; YouTube sensation, AJ Rafael; and pop vocalist Ashley Robles.

This year, FPAC introduces its first-ever Martial Arts Village, featuring IMB Academy, and South Bay Martial Arts Club to name a few. FPAC also includes the return of popular, annually-anticipated events and activities, such as the Balut Eating Contest, the annual vegetable competition, FPAC Tinikling Dance Battle, Pinoyvisions Films, the youth Ati-Atihan parade, arts and crafts by Pilipino Artists Network members, and of course Filipino and Asian cuisine and shopping at the Marketplace by the Sea.

‘FPAC is not just a festival – it’s an annual tradition by the community, for the community that people have come to expect,” said Jilly Canizares, executive director, FilAm ARTS. “Since its inception 18 years ago, FPAC has evolved with the community, offering diverse Philippine artistic expressions – traditional, modern and everything in between – that match the diverse makeup of festival attendees. We’re thankful for the community’s support in continuing this tradition for almost two decades strong.’”

Tinikling Battle 2009

Come support your fellow SCPASA schools at the FPAC Tinikling Battle! The battle will take place from 12pm-1pm at the Main Stage. Come cheer on CSUN FASA, CSUF PASA Kaibigan, CPP Barkada, and the defending champions UCR Katipunan as they battle it out and see who will rock the sticks for 2009!

BOARD GAMES IS AUGUST 29!!

First of all thank all of you that came out to a very successful Presidents’ dinner! Nothing like Korean BBQ for $9.99 and great company (:

With Board Games is just around the corner, have you registered your school yet? SCPASA just has a couple questions and reminders for all of you.

**Please bring your FPAC ticket money, ticket order form, and unused tickets to board games. Otherwise, you will be responsible to pay for the tickets that were issued to you.

**If you have TABLES, CANOPIES, COOLERS, FIREWOOD, please please PLEASE bring them to board games! We have limited spaces in our cars, and Dockweiller Beach does not have picnic areas for us. So if you could please bring tables and canopies (especially) it would be greatly appreciated.

When you complete the survey for your appropriate school, and you get to the question that asks you what you will be bringing, please add canopy/table/firewood/etc in addition to your designated dish– if you can provide it for that day (:

pleeaaaseee.. we really need them! :D

**Speaking of survey.. Don’t forget to register your school!

Can’t wait to see you all at Board Games! It’s going to be awesome!!

From all of us @SCPASA (:

August Events!

AUGUST 14 2009 — Presidents’ Dinner

This will be an awesome opportunity for all the presidents to get a head start in meeting and networking with all the SCPASA organizations. We will also be handing out FPAC tickets for the fundraiser at this time, so please save the date for a President’s dinner with SCPASA Board!

SCPASA Presidents’ Dinner
Friday, August 14 7:30 pm
Ma Dang Sae Restaurant Lakewood, CA

This is reserved for the president and their corresponding SCPASA representative. (Sorry, we would love to have you all, but I don’t think they would be able to fit us all at one table (: )

Please check your email and fill out the attached FPAC ticket order form, and bring it to dinner. If you have not received the email, please contact us  at socalpasa@gmail.com

August 29 2009 — Board Games!

boardgames[1]

an event for all the SCPASA schools to come together, meet and socialize with other boards, and play some crazy, fun games together!

Board games will be potluck style! We are asking each organization to provide food enough for 10 people:
UC Schools: Appetizer
CSU Schools: Main Dish/Entree
Private Schools: Dessert
Community Colleges: Drinks

To avoid everyone bringing the same dish (although loads and loads of chicken was interesting to have last year..haha) we are going to have a sign up sheet for what types of food everyone is bringing.

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR SCHOOL BY MONDAY, AUGUST 24 AT http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=XcOuzalQOhah1H3OEPiCkQ_3d_3d
